2026 BABAO Conference
Welcome to BABAO 2026!

The 27th Annual Conference of the British Association for Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology will be hosted by Dr. Sam Tipper and Ms Tanja Karlsen from Anglia Ruskin University.
The event will take place in Lincoln at Lincoln College, and will also be available to attend virtually.
The conference dinner and quiz will take place the County Assembly Rooms!

Sam is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Anthropology at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Lincoln.
Samantha is a biological and forensic anthropologist with over 15 years of experience working in both the commercial and academic sectors in human osteology, paleopathology, forensic anthropology, and forensic science in both the UK and USA.
She completed her PhD in Archaeology at the University of Durham, while working as a senior lecturer and program lead at the University of Lincoln.

Tanja Karlsen is a Norwegian archaeologist and full-time PhD student at ARU in Cambridge. Originally from Tromsø, she now lives in Cambridgeshire with her husband and 8 year old daughter.
She completed her BA at The Arctic University of Norway in 2014, gained commercial field experience across the UK, and earned an MSc in Palaeopathology from Durham University in 2016.
She now combines doctoral research with teaching support in the ARU anthropology labs with Sam.
